On May 14th, 2005, Grandprix Raceway hosted round 4 of the Florida State Series.
JR Mitch took TQ during round 2. In the main event, Gene Hickerson passed JR and took the lead. After building a 18 second lead with just 6 minutes to go, Hickerson flamed out on his final pit stop, but held on to the lead over Jason Rona. But 2 minutes later, Hickerson flamed out again and dropped to 3rd. Rona won, followed by Angelides and Hickerson.

On July 16th, 2005, B and B Hobbies hosted round 5 of the Florida State Series.
In round 1, Leon Mcintosh took TQ. Gene Hickerson's XB8 took TQ by 4 tenths of a second over JR Mitch in round 2.

In the main event, Hickerson and Mitch swaped the lead several times. During Hickerson's 2nd pit stop, JR took the lead and held a 10 second lead for the rest of the race. With 3 minutes left, Hickerson made a charge and was within 8 seconds from the leader, but crashed afew times and had to settle for 2nd. McIntosh finished 3rd, 2 laps behind. Hickerson's XB* had the fastest lap of the main event with a 35.8 second lap time. No one else broke the 36 second barrier.
